Interview with Adil Hermach

(TheAtlasLions/2-11-2004) Here is an exclusive interview with Adil Hermach

1°/- Tell us about yourself

I was born in Montfrin in 1986, south of France, near Nîmes. I grew up in Nîmes. I signed in Nîmes when I was 13 years-old.

Last season, my club lost its professional status. That meant that I was free to sign whenever I want.

I used to play in the U18 French championship. We did a great season, reaching the Gambardella Cup Final (French U18 National Cup).

I had some offers and I decided to sign for Lens.

2°/- What are your hobbies?

My main hobby is to play Playstation. I like to spend whiles with my families and best friends. I can also sleep during hours and hours.

3°/- Who is your idol and why?

Without any hesitation: Guardiola, the former Barcelona star. He is my model, what a fantastic player! I remember international friendly match against France. He lost only only one ball in…90 minutes, something unbelievable at the top level!

4°/- What is your favourite club and why ?

I like Real Madrid for their prestige, Inter for their shirt and Arsenal for their fantastic way of play.

5°/- You played for France youth team and attended a training camp with Morocco U20, which do you prefer to play for? Morocco or France? And why?

Without any hesitation: Morocco, for a lot of reasons. My father who is my first supporter would not understand if I play for France. He uses to see Morocco national teams for years. His best memory is the 1970 World Cup. When he talks about this team, he is so proud.

I am very proud to be French and Moroccan but to play for Morocco means much more things for me. I know that for Morocco people, the national team is something very important. I love all this passion around Morocco national teams.

6°/- How does it feel to join Lens this season? And do you dream of making your debut for the first team?

I feel very nice at this moment. All the officials of the club are doing their best in order to allow me the best integration possible. I play for the reserve team and I have already trained with the professional squad. I hope I will get some minutes this season, even if I am not hurried. I know I have still to work very hard before being a regular professional player.

Of course, I dream of making my debut for the first team. Moreover, we have a fantastic public here in Lens.

7°/- Do you follow the results of the Atlas Lions?

All the time. I was very happy with their results in the last African nations Cup in Tunisia. And I hope they will qualify for the 2006 World Cup because there are several players from Guinea (Jabi, Feindouno and Zayatte) who play in Lens. I bet on our victory against them next March in Morocco. Otherwise, I should pay a big sum of money!

8°/- Morocco great defender Nourredine Naybet is on the verge to retire, are you going to be his successor.

First, we don’t play at the same position. I am a defensive midfielder, even if I have already played as central defender.

Naybet is a great model for all Moroccan players. He did a fantastic career at the highest level for 8 years! If I can do only 50% of what he did, it will be something great.

But I can not say I will be successor. It would be a lack of respect for him. I still have so much work before reaching his level.

9°/- How often you visit Morocco and where do you go?

I try to go to Morocco each summer but as you know it is very difficult with the training sessions beginning early July. I go to my grand-parents city, Salé. It is the city where my father was born.

10°/- Do you have contact with other Morocco players in France?

Yes, one of my best friends is Nabil Elzhar and he is playing in Saint Etienne. We were together in Nîmes.

I know Karim Miftal from Niort. My cousin Mourad N’Zid who plays for Pau in French division three. He has been trained in Le Mans. Azzedine Ourahou from Istres.

11°/- A last word for the visitors of our site www.theatlaslions.com
